“It is disturbing knowing there is immense opportunities we are not tapping into to deal with challenges we face. We all understand what the problem and solution is. Every day we talk about it. Why can’t we get things going and benefit? We are holding back on huge potential beyond what we are crying about not getting outside our region. We must move beyond incremental realization of certain goals and move it to a massive scale. We are capable of doing it.” – President Kagame spoke on intra African trade and what keeps him up at night during a one on one interview at the launch of CNBC Africa’s regional headquarters in Rwanda.

On telling Africa’s story, the President said;

“The fact that Africa’s story is not being told by Africans is a problem in itself. We have been as fast as humanely possible given all the odds and constraints Rwanda on Rwanda’s growth: It is not just numbers, growth in GDP per capita is real because the development has been inclusive. I am happy we came together and agreed that regional integration is the way to go for all of us.”

 “As a region, the private sector and the government, we cannot fail to mobilise enough resources to invest in the different kinds of infrastructure that we need, whether railways, energy sector or telecoms and other sectors. Infrastructure is capital intensive but it is also a big opportunity where people can invest their money in. We must move beyond incremental realization of certain goals and move it to a massive scale. We are capable of doing it.” President Kagame noted about regional partnerships
