President Kagame today received at his office members of the East African Youth Organization and 15 youth from the Democratic Republic of Congo who are in the country to participate in the 17th commemoration of Rwandan Genocide against the Tutsi.
Speaking to the press after the meeting, the President of the organization Mrisho Gambo from Tanzania said:
“We met President Kagame whom we know as a leader who is passionate about the youth of this region and the continent in general and took the opportunity to present to him our request for support to obtain a permanent headquarters for our secretariat. The President also talked to us about the fight against corruption and also advised us to adopt the right mindset and challenge ourselves to get things done because we are the continent’s most valuable resource”.
The Minister of Youth, Protais Mitari said the President thanked the youth for coming to join Rwandans during this period of commemoration of the genocide and advised them on many issues:
“The President told them that the youth are the future of this region and continent and therefore should endeavor to be agents of change. The President also pledged support to the organization in whatever way he can. The discussions also dwelt on the ongoing process on regional integration”.
