Kigali, 14 December 2017
President Kagame today opened the RPF-Inkotanyi National Congress, which also marks the party’s 30 year anniversary.
Addressing thousands of RPF cadres at the party’s headquarters in Rusororo, President Kagame President Kagame pointed out that there was need to desist from serving one’s interests and work towards national development.
President Kagame asked cadres to look beyond what has been achieved in the past thirty years of the party’s existence and focus on the legacy for the next generation since the achievements only serve as a foundation to deliver even more for citizens.
“What we are celebrating today are the achievements of a generation. But we cannot be short sighted. We must think of what we can do today to benefit the generations to come. This is a milestone not only of years, but of efforts that changed the course of history of Rwanda as well as our character. You have to think of yourself as a leader who puts those you serve first, a leader who thinks about how to work with their peers. Not a leader who put themselves first. Singing your own praises is not worthy of people who have self-respect. That bragging should stop. Use that energy to focus on the many challenges we still face and solve them. The power to protect what we have achieved, who we are and what we stand for is within each of us.”
On RPF-Inkotanyi 30 year-anniversary, President Kagame said this was a milestone not only of years, but of efforts that changed the course of history of Rwanda as well as their character.
