President Kagame today inaugurated the Nzove water treatment plant located in Nzove sector, Kigali city, which will significantly increase water quantity and quality in the country, at a lower cost compared to other projects of its kind.
In his inauguration speech, President Kagame called on leaders to work together to ensure citizens of Rwanda reap as much benefit as possible from these projects.
“The African Union entrusted me with the responsibility to mobilise on clean water and sanitation and Culligan will always be on our mind as one of the company that can provide cost effective clean water. This partnership has something to do with strategic partnership that money. Water is life but most times it’s lacking. I want to thank this partnership for a job well done.”
President Kagame asked Rwandans to always value and protect infrastructure such as the water treatment plant so that the benefits can multiply with the ultimate goal of creating a good life for all.
The Minister of Infrastructure, James musoni said the plant would add 28cm3 per day to the water supply, raising by 82% the satisfaction of the water needs in Kigali City. He thanked Culligan Company for professionalism
Laurence Bower, the President of Culligan, the American company which was contracted to construct the water plant thanked the Government of Rwanda for a very supportive role and partnership that enabled the company to construct the plant in record time of 11 months.
The American Ambassador, Erica J. Barks-Ruggles said the water project is testimony to true international partnership and that the decision of Culligan to base their regional headquarters in Rwanda is testimony of the existing favourable environment in Rwanda.
