President Kagame and First Lady Jeanette Kagame have concluded a two day visit to the Easter Province where they met residents of Nyagatare and Kirehe Districts, and met and held discussions with the province’s opinion leaders in Rwamagana District.
Addressing the thousands of people of Kirehe District who gathered at the Kirehe District grounds today, President Kagame reiterated the need for Rwandans work hard and do the best they can do, in order to achieve the prosperity that befits a Rwandan and go beyond dependence.
“There is no reason we should be producing under capacity. Let us learn from the best among us to produce more collectively. The children who sang for us here today should grow up to be in a position to help others, not to be dependent on others. We should be able to produce to feed ourselves and others. We should not accept to depend on others to be fed.”
President Kagame assured the people of Kirehe District and the entire Eastern Province that they are capable of building on what they have to produce even more and pledged the facilitation of the Government to enable them to attain maximum production.
President Kagame pointed out that above all, Rwandans needed to know that security is the foundation of sustaining the progress made, as well as the springboard for making even more progress. President Kagame also toured Cyunuzi rice fields in Kirehe District.
