Gishari, 17 March 2014
President Kagame today commissioned 458 Rwanda National Police’s Officer Cadets as Police officers, 87 of whom were women. This is the first cade intake at the Rwanda National Police Training School in Gishari, the past five Cadet Courses having been conducted at the National Police College (NPC), in Musanze.
In his commissioning speech, President Kagame reminded the cadet officers that the training gained would position them better to serve their countries by upholding the law and standing up for equal rights for all citizens.
“Thank you for showing that men and women are equally capable of fulfilling this function. The responsibility of the police goes beyond providing security. You are an essential part of our nation’s development. Security is a priority for our nation, alongside development and well being of all Rwandans. My main responsibility is to the people of Rwanda, their development and their security.”
President Kagame also toured the Gishari Integrated Polytechnic facilities established in partnership with Workforce Development Authority (WDA) in March 2013.
336 students are currently undergoing diploma training courses in Plumbing, Electricity, Construction, Information Communication Technology (ICT), Mechanical Engineering, as well as Vocational programs.
