President Kagame today commissioned 180 cadet officers at the Rwanda Military Academy, Gako, Bugesera District.

In his commissioning speech, President Kagame congratulated the newly commissioned Rwanda Defence Force officers and reiterated that all those who join the Rwandan army are trained to face the challenges of the times that the country is in, including the unexpected ones.

“You are given the training and knowledge to protect the sovereignty of our nation, to fight wars and keep Rwandans safe. It is an important responsibility.RDF is trained and prepared to fight wars but not to start them with others. But if others make us their problem and choose to start a war with us, that is when we use judgment, determination and training to fight and finish it for them,” President Kagame said.

The President also reminded the new officers of the greatness of the profession they have chosen, adding that they should take pride in it.

The newly commissioned RDF officers include 176 who completed their cadet course at the Rwanda Military Academy and four who graduated recently from Tanzania.
