President Kagame today hosted Presidents Yoweri Museveni of Uganda and Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya who were in Kigali to attend the 12th Northern Corridor Integration Projects Summit. The Heads of State Summit was also attended by observers from DRC, Burundi and Tanzania.

Opening the Summit, President Kagame extended a warm welcome to all present and expressed optimism for regional integration.

 

On the outcome of his meeting with Presidents Kenyatta and Museveni, President Kagame said regional officials would now be meeting 12 times every year to accelerate the implementation of integration projects.

President Kagame pointed to progress made so far, but encouraged all stakeholders to work harder to get rid of all backlogs in order to achieve the results desired by the people of the region.

President Kagame also welcomed Ethiopia who have now become full members of the Northern Corridor Integration Projects Summit.

The Ethiopian Foreign Minister, Tedros Adhanom announced Ethiopia’s application to join the Northern Corridor Integration Projects, stating that regional integration would help to not only integrate but also unite the African continent.

The Summit renewed commitment to put more focus in implementing projects already in the pipeline.
