President Kagame arrived in Guinea, Conakry at the invitation of President Alpha Conde for a two day State visit. Upon his arrival, President Kagame was welcomed by members of the Guinean Cabinet as well as the Diplomatic corps residing in Guinea, Conakry.

Rwanda’s Ambassador to Guinea Stanislas Kamanzi explained that the visit aims to further strengthen the already cordial relations the two countries share.

 

“This State Visit will serve as an important opportunity for our two countries in terms of defining lines of cooperation that would be profitable for our two countries, but also relevant of the governance of our continent, especially to do with how we can fast track development.”

Later that evening, a State dinner in President Kagame’s honor was held, during which he was awarded The Grand Croix, the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a person by the country. Previously the award was presented to the President Erdogan of Turkey.

During the visit, The President is expected to hold bilateral talks as well as visit a number of key projects in the capital. The two countries will also sign a general cooperation agreement, which will serve as an umbrella agreement giving way for more technical accords to be negotiated and signed in the future.
