President Kagame today attended the swearing-in of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto in Kenya’s capital Nairobi.
“The people of Rwanda send you their greetings and congratulations for your well-deserved election victory. Congratulations.” President Kagame said.
Held at Moi International Sports Centre, the second inauguration ceremony of President Kenyatta was attended by various Heads of State and Government including, South Sudan President Salva Kiir, Zambia President Edgar Lungu, Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh, Botswana President Ian Khama, Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, Uganda President Yoweri Museveni, Gabon President Ali Bongo and Nigeria’s Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.  President Kenyatta then hosted the dignitaries to a state luncheon at State House and
The son of Kenya’s founding father, Jomo Kenyatta, 56-year-old President Kenyatta has previously served as deputy Prime Minister, Minister for trade, and Finance Minister under his predecessor President Mwai Kibaki.
President Kagame also held bilateral meetings with President Kenyatta and Prime Minister Netanyahu. Rwanda and Israel announced that there will be an opening of a new Israeli Embassy in Rwanda around July 2018. Rwanda’s national carrier RwandAir will also explore possibilities of opening direct flights to between the two nations.
