President Kagame has said that majority of Rwandans are energetic young people and this aspect should be harnessed for rapid national development. President Kagame was addressing residents of Kigarama sector, Kicukiro District and civil servants from various government institutions, after a monthly Umuganda carried out at Rebero hill to mitigate soil erosion.
President Kagame urged Rwandans to give due value toUmuganda and other home grown initiatives, which he said contributed a great deal in helping one million Rwandans cross the line of poverty.
“The difference between Rwandans and other people is the fact that we have decided to find solutions to our own problems. When people decide to come together and work for their common good, there is nothing they cannot achieve. Let us all mobilize our energy, own and embrace these homegrown initiatives so that we can rapidly transform our country.”
The monthly activity was also attended by the Minister of Local Government, James Musoni, The Minister of Finance John Rwangombwa, The Minister of Commerce, Francois Kanimba and the Minister of Presidency, Venetia Tugireyezu and other senior Government officials.
