President Kagame today at Urugwiro Village received His Majesty Mohammed VI, the King of Morocco, who arrived in Rwanda yesterday for a State Visit. The two principals held a tête–à-tête before witnessing the signing of Bilateral Agreements in the Economic, Political and Social sectors.
His Majesty the King of Morocco was accompanied by a delegation of high ranking Royal officials and members of the Morocco private sector who are interested in exploring investment opportunities and partnerships available in Rwanda.
Rwandan and Moroccan officials signed various significant agreements that included General Cooperation Agreement (GCA), MOU on Political Consultation Mechanism, Air Service Agreement, Agreement on exemption of Visa, Agreement on Security Cooperation and tourism. Officials from both sides also signed agreement related to launch the “Africa Mutual Growth” investment fund, Reciprocal Promotion and Protection of investments, Partnership for the development and the promotion of Economic Zones in Rwanda, establishment of the African Institute of Technology (AIT), establish a bilateral council between PSF and the Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), among others.
President Kagame hosted His Majesty and his delegation to a State Lunch at the Kigali Conference Center.
The visit by His Majesty King Mohammed VI comes after President Kagame’s two-day official visit to Morocco in June this year, where he was decorated by His Majesty the King with the Grand Collar of Wissam Al-Mohammadi, Morocco’s highest national Award of Honour, before hosting him to an official “Iftar” in observance of the holy month of Ramadhan.
