President Kagame today presided over the 3rd graduation of the University of Rwanda, where more than 8000 students graduated at different academic levels and disciplines.
In his address, president Kagame thanked faulty, parents and students for having made the day possible.
“You have finished your turn; many more Rwandans will come through as we travel the journey of building our country. Education is meant to help accelerate our development. This comes with responsibilities for all of you. The progress of our country can only be founded on the skills and education of its people. It is upon you today’s graduates, those who came before you and those who will come after you.”
President Kagame cautioned the grauduands not to assume that by completing their university education life would be easier from here.
“You are going to face different challenges, including competition for jobs. Only the most capable will prevail. The education you have attained was to prepare you to face challenges and find solutions. Education is a never ending process and you should be prepared to continue learning.”
President Kagame asked the graduands to maintain discipline and good Rwandan values if they are to a good contribution to their country.
“As young Rwandans, you have the advantage of graduating with the knowledge of the lessons learned from our history. I call on you to uphold the right values, work hard for yourselves, your families and your nation.”
In conclusion, President Kagame wished the graduands and their families success in all their future endeavors.
