Kigali, 13 July 2016
President Kagame today received a delegation of Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania MBA Alumni and Faculty members who are currently financial industry experts in various fields.
Katherine J. Klein, Vice Dean, Wharton Social Impact Initiative and head of the delegation said the visit was triggered by President Kagame’s visit and lecture to the school’s students and faculty last year.
“We have always come to Rwanda with students and we are here with alumni to continue the conversation with Rwanda about what the school and friends of the school can do to support Rwanda’s continuing growth and growth of the private sector. We are exchanging good ideas and every one of us is inspired and impressed with what Rwandans are doing.”
The CEO of RDB, Francis Gatare said during President Kagame’s talk at the school last year, many teaching faculty and alumni who were in attendance that day expressed interest to visit Rwanda and experience what was happening.
“This group is made up of alumni and faculty, and some are successful business owners and entrepreneurs. They are here for more than a week to meet people and explore and get to know this country. Ensuing discussions can lead to a lot of things.”
While in the country, the group will also meet with senior Government leaders as well as private sector key players. They will also visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, Nyamata Genocide Memorial, the Kigali Special Economic Zone and also go Gorilla trekking.
