President Paul Kagame has arrived in the Kingdom of Morocco for a two-day official visit at the invitation of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
On arrival in the North African nation, President Kagame was welcomed by the Prime Minister, Mr. Abdel-Ilah Benkiran, the Wali of the Casablanca-Settat Region, the Governor of the Nouaceur Province, elected officials and civilian and military representatives of the Nouaceur Prefecture.
During the Official Welcome Ceremony on the Mechouar Esplanade in Casablanca, President Kagame was decorated by His Majesty King Mohammed VI with the Grand Collar of Wissam Al-Mohammadi, Morocco’s highest national Award of Honour.
In observance of the holy month of Ramadan, President Kagame was hosted to an official “Iftar” hosted by His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Louise Mushikiwabo, said the visit aimed at strengthening the already existing cordial relations between the two countries.
“This state visit is an important opportunity to define lines of cooperation that would be beneficial for our two countries.”
During the visit, Kagame is also expected to meet with members of the Moroccan private sector.
The two countries are expected to agree on a general cooperation framework, which will inform more specific cooperation agreements in the future.
