The European Union (EU) Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, Mimica Neven today paid a courtesy call to President Kagame at Urugwiro Village.
Speaking to members of the press after the meeting, Commissioner Mimica expressed EU’s strong commitment to cooperation with the Rwandan Government in building sustainable development for the country as well as the region;
“Today’s meeting was an excellent opportunity for me to reinforce the strong development partnership we have with Rwanda. We have been aligning our development projects with the national development plan and priorities of Rwanda and this is exactly how we should continue to work. The EU has always emphasized that development policies work only in countries with strong leadership, strong commitment to economic, social and democratic transformation and development and we see that this is the case in Rwanda.”
Commissioner Mimica arrived in Rwanda on 14 September 2015 where he inaugurated the Gatuna- Kigali road project financed by the EU.
The Commissioner also visited radical terraces and Abunzi programme where EU has been supporting decentralized agriculture and Justice Sectors.
