President Kagame today received a delegation from Master Card Foundation, led by the CEO,Reeta Roy, the foundation’s CEO and President.

“We had a very productive meeting today with the President, and we talked about the development needs of Rwanda, and we specifically focused on the role of education and financial inclusion in transforming Rwanda. Rwanda is a remarkable place to work in, a country that has set very ambitious development targets and has made substantial contributions to the Millennium Development Goals and our foundation working in partnerships with different organizations here in 5 Districts across the country and we have received strong support from the Government and we are impressed with results, especially in the rural areas.”

The Minister of State in the Ministry of Education in charge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (MINEDUC, TVET), Albert Nsengiyumva said the foundation has been instrumental in supporting the Government’s efforts to fight poverty, through their different programs around the country, especially in the Agriculture sector.

“Today’s discussions dwelt mostly on how to enhance the foundation’s activities by expanding the programs to cover the entire country. One example of their important projects is that of supporting girls in education from secondary school to university and assisting students undergoing vocational training to obtain skills and experience that will help them to create jobs for themselves and others. The foundation also helps poor students who score good grades to pursue their education especially in the US and Canada.”

The Foundation has committed more than $50 Million to its projects in Rwanda in areas of education, ICT, Agriculture and micro finance.
