Kampala, 6 June 2015
President Kagame attended the 10th Northern Corridor Integration Projects (NCIP) Summit on the second day of his visit. The summit began with the launch of the NCIP web portal which will disseminate information and facilitate communications on the Northern Corridor Integration Projects.
The meeting also saw the signing of the agreement of the total liberalization of labor and services and signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cyber Security.
Hosted by President Museveni, the summit was attended by President Kenyatta of Kenya, Kuol Manyang Juuk, South Sudan’s Minister of Defence and Veteran affairs who represented the Republic of South Sudan, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus Minister of Foreign Affairs representing the Republic of Ethiopia and Alain Nyamitwe, Minister of External Affairs and International Cooperation who represented the Republic of Burundi.
President Kagame urged member states to speed up implementation of all projects:
“We are all looking forward to planning better in the future so as to achieve more things that will get us to where we ought to be.”
The summit saw for the first time the integration of the private sector to ensure their participation as key players and investors in the region.

The Northern Corridor is the transport corridor linking Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan and Kenya. The Northern Corridor Integration Projects initiative is designed to generate sustainable political will necessary to fast track the implementation of the projects identified.
The 1st Summit was held in June 2013 and the three Heads of State of Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya agreed to meet every two months to review progress made.
Next summit will be hosted by President Kenyatta in Kenya’s capital Nairobi.
