President Kagame today joined global leaders from business and government for the two day Egypt Economic Development Conference (EEDC) held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
This unprecedented conference since the election of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi saw the launch of a four year investment program aimed at enabling Egypt to generate employment and fulfill its economic potential. The gathering also served as an opportunity to showcase reforms that have restored fiscal stability as well as involve investors into shaping future reforms that will attract investment and drive growth.
Key sectors discussed include oil and gas, housing, transportation, mining, tourism, ICT and agriculture. Morever, Egyptian Youth, SMEs and Entrepreneurs had the opportunity to share ideas and interact with conference delegates.
Other participants of the Egypt Economic Development Conference included the King of Barhain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Jordan, Abdullah II, President Omar al-Bashir of Sudan, President Mahmoud Abbas of Palestine, President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta of Mali, Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn of Ethiopia, and US Secretary of State, John Kerry.

- Agreements between Rwanda and Egypt include the following areas of cooperation; economic and technical, trade and industry development, education, agriculture, scientific research and culture.
- Rwanda currently exports tea, coffee and minerals to Egypt.
- Net foreign direct investment into Egypt was close to $2 billion in the third quarter of 2014, according to the Egyptian central bank. Annual gross domestic product (GDP) growth is also projected to return to 5 percent in the next few years, according to analyst polls from Reuters.
- Egypt’s GDP was 271.4 billion USD in 2014 with a per capita income of 3,266 USD.
