The United States Ambassador to Rwanda, Donald W. Koran today called on President Kagame to bid him farewell as his 3-year tour of duty comes to an end. He was accompanied by Mr. James Potts– Political Officer.

Speaking to the press after the meeting, Amb. Donald W. Koran said:

“I am finishing my three year tour here in Rwanda, the President and I briefly discussed the areas where our two countries have worked together; notably peacekeeping, trade, health and economic development. We have seen a lot of dramatic changes in the country across the board.”

 

Amb. Koran is a career member of the US Senior Foreign Service who has previously served as Deputy Chief of Mission in Rwanda from 1999 to 2001 and held other positions in US Missions (Cuba, Venezuela, Togo, Madagascar and Niger). He also served in the State Department’s Bureaus of African Affairs, International Organization Affairs and Intelligence and Research.

His replacement, Ms. Erica Barks-Ruggles is tentatively set to be sworn in as Ambassador to the Republic of Rwanda in January 2015.
