Kigali, 27 January 2014

President Kagame, who is also the Commander-in-Chief of Rwanda Defence Forces, today presided over the Closing of the Rwanda Defence Forces mini Retreat held in Kigali. The Retreat was aimed at reviewing the implementation of the retreat decisions held in June last year and forging the way forward.

President Kagame was briefed on the outcomes of the mini Retreat, and strategies undertaken to make RDF continue fulfilling its Mission of defending the sovereignty of Rwanda, act as a catalyst for fast-tracking Rwanda’s aspiration to achieve Middle Income Status and development as envisaged in Vision 2020 and EDPRS2.

 

The Rwanda Defence Forces Spokesperson, Brigadier General Joseph Nzabamwita said President Kagame encouraged the Rwanda Defence Forces to maintain their standing as a highly disciplined force as well as a contributor to the development of the country.

“We were honored to have the President and the Commander-in-Chief attend our retreat to talk to us and give us inspiration to carry out our responsibilities with renewed energy. President Kagame not only commended us for the good job we are doing of protecting our country’s sovereignty and securing Rwandans but also for contributing to peace in other countries. The President asked the Rwanda Defence Forces to maintain discipline and continue to make our contribution in the development of this country.”
