President Kagame arrived today in Uganda where he will be attending the 15th Ordinary Summit of East African Community Heads of States. The one day summit bringing together Presidents from all five members of the East African Community will discuss the progress of the community in key sectors.
Key achievements to be discussed include the single customs territory, the East African monetary Union expected to be launched during this summit. The monetary union will result into a single currency and monetary policy, integrated financial management systems, coordinated fiscal policies and common standards on statistics among others.
The Summit is also scheduled to review the application of South Sudan and Somalia to the EAC and the roadmap for an EAC political federation.
The 15th Ordinary Summit of East African Community Heads of States will be held in the Munyonyo Conference Centre in Kampala on November 30th, 2013 and follows the last summit held in Nairobi in May 2013
