“Umuganda is an opportunity for each of us to be part of developing our nation. It is also proof of what we are able to do for ourselves to move our country forward. We cannot expect anyone to solve our problems for us; we must work hard to resolve our own. Assistance and partnerships from elsewhere should be in addition to our own hard work. What we started here today must not end here but should be the basis for even more progress.”
The Mayor of Nyarugenge District, Solange Mukasonga said the lives of the people of Kanyinya would now improve, whereby 20,000 residents; the total population of the area will now have a more consistent way of getting water as opposed to only 5000 who currently have access to water.
