Kigali, 12 December 2018
President Kagame today addressed the Youth Connect Convention, an annual youth event that is held before the National Umushikirano Council. This year’s event gathered over 2000 Rwandan youth from across all districts 15 countries.
In his address, President Kagame told the youth that the future of Rwanda is in their hands and that the country wanted to ensure that they had the tools to build this future.
“This means your education, the schools you attend, everything we provide is aimed at giving you the skills you need to lead this country. A good education begins within families. That is the foundation of it all. Education means being raised with the right values. It means building character, an identity. The character and the identity of the country depends on each of you. Your education and values you represent are not just a reflection of you, it is a reflection of what the country stands for. We want to build a country with the right values and character. We want to make sure that when people speak of Rwanda, they know that we are a country that has an identity and stands for its values”
President Kagame stated that Rwandans must build a society driven by unity, working together, and a country defined by the right values, character and identity.
