President Kagame today joined other Heads of State and Government from across Francophonie member countries for the second and last day of the 17th Francophonie Summit, where Minister Louise Mushikiwabo was unanimously confirmed as the next Secretary-General of the Organisation International de la Francophonie (OIF).

The President had, at the beginning of the confirmation session, presented Minister Mushikiwabo’s candidacy as Africa’s and Rwanda’s candidate.

In a tweet, President Kagame expressed his gratitude to all Francophonie member countries who supported Minister Mushikiwabo’s bid for the Organisation’s top job.

“It’s a historic moment for all of us, Rwandans and Africans, which shows once again that when we work together with determination as Africans, no challenge is insurmountable. Congratulations to you Louise Mushikiwabo,” President Kagame tweeted in French.

The Head of State also interacted with young Armenians at the Foundation for Armenian Science and Technology (FAST). The body focuses on building an ecosystem that drives technological innovation and scientific advancement. The discussion was led by the Foundation’s founding CEO Armen Orujyan.
