Kigali, 13 February 2018
President Kagame today received his Gabonese counterpart, Ali Bongo Ondimba, who arrived in Kigali for a one-day working visit. The two Heads of State held a tete a tete at Urugwiro Village, followed by a bilateral meeting, where various issues concerning cooperation between the two countries, the Central African region and Africa at large, were discussed.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Louise Mushikiwabo said that the two Heads of State discussed issues of mutual interest, particularly on how to advance cooperation between Rwanda and Gabon.
“I and my Gabonese counterpart were tasked to ensure that our two nations take a step further towards promoting trade and investment as well as cooperation between the two nations and people. President Kagame, being the current Chairman of the African Union and President Bongo, being the current Chairman of the Economic Community of Central African States talked about security in Africa and the region as well as upcoming continental meetings.”
Minister Mushikiwabo also said that on the agenda of the meeting between the two Heads of State was African integration.
