President Kagame today presided over the launch of the Judicial Year 2017/2018 at Parliament, attended by high ranking judicial officials, senior government leaders and diplomats.
At the same ceremony, newly appointed leaders also took oath of office, including Ministers Jean Philbert Nsengimana, ICT, Claver Gatete, Finance and Economic Planning and Olivier Nduhungirehe State Minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and East African affairs.
Others were Anastase Murekezi, the new Chief Ombudsman, and members of Parliament Jean Damascène Murara and Marie Pélagie Uwamariya Rutijanwa.
In his remarks, President Kagame thanked members of the judiciary for their contribution to building a nation that respects the rule of law.
“Fighting corruption in our justice system should begin by holding leaders accountable, not just citizens. Our justice system must be defined by fairness and equality for all. Justice is not just a symbolic ceremony or procedure. It is about efficient process and delivering a fair outcome. In this continuous fight to develop and transform this nation, your role as the judiciary is essential”
Wishing the judicial fraternity a fruitful judicial year, President Kagame pledged the support of the government in dealing with challenges faced by the judiciary in the course of service delivery to the people of Rwanda.
