More than 250 members of cabinet, ambassadors, mayors and heads of key government agencies, as well as senior members of the legislature and judiciary, and representatives of the private sector will participate in the 9th Government Leadership Retreat at Gako Military Academy for from 3-7 March, 2012.Chaired by President Kagame, the retreat will focus on poverty reduction and job creation at District level, increased productivity in key priority sectors, as well as improvements in infrastructure and health.

The Minister in charge of Cabinet Affairs, Protais Musoni said:

“Leaders attending this retreat are well aware of the problems facing citizens and their needs. This year’s retreat is unique because local leaders from Districts, who live and interact with citizens on a daily basis, will give pointers on the best approach towards serving our citizens better.”

Delegates will showcase successful ‘home grown’ solutions from districts that performed well, in improving the quality of life of citizens, with a view to replicating success to other parts of the country. Leaders will also discuss how to fine-tune intra governmental collaboration in order to improve delivery of public services.
