President Kagame today received in his office Preneet Kaur, Indian Minister of State for External Affairs who led a delegation of high ranking officials from the Indian public and private sector.
Speaking after the meeting, Minister Preneet Kaur said:
“I have brought greetings from the Indian President, Prime Minister and the people of India and I have also brought with me a high level delegation of businesspeople from big Indian companies who want to invest here. We also discussed bilateral cooperation issues between India and Rwanda especially in connection to the Indo-Africa Partnership Forum. On this basis, we have programs like capacity building, Agriculture, hydropower and human resource development. We also signed MoUs for cooperation in renewable energy, IT, and for a Joint Permanent Commission, the first meeting of which will take place in Delhi. The President has agreed to attend.”
2011 saw a tremendous growth in bilateral cooperation between Rwanda and India as reflected in serious engagements at both public and private sector levels. Bilateral cooperation programmes exist between Rwanda and India in different sectors including; Education and TVET, Health, Agriculture, Energy, Science and Technology, SMEs, Infrastructure and Defense.
