President Kagame today paid a visit to Gabonese President Ali Bongo Ondimba, with whom they held bilateral talks at Palais de la Renovation in the capital Libreville.

Speaking to members of the press at the conclusion of his talks with his Gabonese counterpart, President Kagame pointed out that his visit is part of efforts to strengthen the already existing excellent bilateral ties between the two nations. He further noted that his visit was also an occasion to check on the Gabonese leader who has been ill.

“I am glad that there is significant improvement to his health that has led to the resumption of his responsibilities. In the African way, we visit friends when it is good times and when it is not so good times,” President Kagame said.

The President who is on a two-day visit commended Gabon for playing a central role in promoting African interests and vision.

“Gabon has been central to African interests, vision and strategy to achieve that vision. President Bongo has been very active working with other leaders on our continent to make sure we raise our level of development,” President Kagame said.
